First impressions…

  • Very big – 200+ stalls
  • Very crowded – even more than Munich
  •  Higher percentage of food stalls than other markets

Don’t miss…

  • River cruise (http://www.primus-linie.de/en/) – take the earliest tour and board early
  • Old footbridge across the Main (the bridge with all the locks)
  • Kartoffelpuffer (potato pancakes)
  • Walking tour of the Christmas market (leaving from the tourism office)

Next time…

  • Take an engraved padlock for the “love lock bridge”

If you drive…

  • Short and easy drive from the airport
  • Expensive parking
  • Heavy traffic, especially at night near the city center

Beaten path index (See the key here)

  • Cameras: 2
  • Language: 2
  • Path: 1
  • Tourists: 2

Street performer…
We enjoyed this Andean flutist so much that we bought his CD. I don’t think we had ever seen a street performer like this, so I was surprised to see the same kind of performer in Stuttgart and Heidelberg.

Bottom line…
Probably not a repeat for us. It’s very nice and was especially interesting because we have been to Frankfurt’s “sister” market in Manchester. But there are still lots of markets on our list, including repeat visits to Vienna, Munich, Rattenberg
