First impressions…

  • Very small market – 4 booths plus a children’s play area
  • No tourists – locals only

If you drive…

  • We found a free 2-hour parking lot several blocks from the city center

Beaten path index (See the key here)

  • Cameras: 5
  • Language: ?
  • Path: 3
  • Tourists: 5

Bottom line…
We stopped at Saverne briefly on the way from Strasbourg to Trier. We stopped because one website described it as being the smallest Christmas market in Alsace and having craftsmen from “all over Europe.” Unless we missed something, the market is 4-5 booths, a skating rink, and a children’s ride. I’m glad we stopped because it was certainly off the beaten path, but we wouldn’t feel a need for a repeat visit.

Note: The link below describes things we did not see. It’s possible that we missed a part of the market.
