General impressions…
This mountain village was beautiful. It’s a woodcarving town and many of the church altars around the world are made here. It is probably more of a tourist town in the summer, but in December we didn’t see any other tourists.

Passion Play 2020
Stay again at Gästehaus Richter (unlikely, since tourist agencies control all lodging during the Passion Play)
Beaten path index (See the key here)
Note: This index is based on our visit in December. During the Passion Play, it is definitely not off the beaten path.

Gästehaus Richter: The advantage of traveling during the off-season
We stayed at a bed and breakfast run by a delightful lady – Frau Richter. The entire town, including Gästehaus Richter, is very crowded most of the year. Because we were there during the off-season, we had a chance to talk at length with Frau Richter. She gave us all sorts of information about the coming Passion Play (2010) in which the entire town takes a part. Her husband and son will both be in the play, and her son has the lead role. (Frau Richter: “That would be Jesus!”) For more information about Gästehaus Richter: Gästehaus Richter
