Driving can be a pain – narrow roads, narrow streets, tiny parking spaces in tiny garages – but we experience things we wouldn’t if we traveled another way. One hour in Sopron was worth all the trouble. It’s a small town in Hungary. Very few people we encountered spoke English. (The only person we met who was fluent in English was a Krishna monk who was there to get donations.) There was a stage where we heard a middle and high school band. The final act of the night was a surprise – a German band playing songs like “Mississippi” and “Achy Breaky Heart”. People were dancing in the street. And we were the only tourists there.
