First impressions…

  • Another old, beautiful river town
  • Limited connectivity (not necessarily a bad thing; we found a bakery with free WiFi – Eibinger Backhaus Dries)
  • Very crowded Christmas market on the weekend (we’ll go during the week next time)

Don’t miss…

  • Pension Post Rudesheim – we won’t stay anywhere else
  • Ski lift to the statue and park at the top – beautiful view (we walked up and took the lift down – it took us an hour of walking to get to the top)

Next time…

  • Explore more of the town
  • Visit markets in some of the nearby towns

If you drive…

  • Stay at Pension Post Rudesheim – contact Herr Lauter in advance about parking
  • There is no bridge. Depending on where you’re driving from, you may have to take the ferry across the Rhine.
  • Look for the public parking lot just west of the Christmas market area. Park there and walk to the hotel for help with parking.

Beaten path index (See the key here)

  • Cameras: 4
  • Language: 4
  • Path: 4
  • Tourists: 3 (Saturday and Sunday; 4 on Monday)

Bottom line…
Rüdesheim is definitely worth a repeat visit. It’s also convenient to the Frankfurt airport.
